Since being among the first to bring games to mobile in 2000, Gameloft has created multiple award winning titles for PC, console and all modern digital platforms. Today, their portfolio includes over 61 games available in 120+ countries, all crafted by their 10 studios across the world.
Following success with intrinsic ads in titles like Gangstar Vegas, Gameloft expanded its partnership with Anzu to integrate non disruptive ads into more of its iconic franchises.
Challenge
Gameloft was looking for new ways to monetize its titles while simultaneously enhancing the player experience. The primary goal was to diversify revenue sources with a solution that would work seamlessly alongside its existing IAP monetization structure. For environment-based games, the studio also wanted to “create more realistic environments,” which they had previously achieved in Gangstar Vegas, in partnership with Anzu.

Solution
Gameloft identified Anzu as “one of the key performers on the market” after their experience with Gangstar Vegas and chose them as a “natural solution” for Asphalt 8: Airborne and Dragon Mania Legends. The studio leveraged Anzu’s “solid and easy to implement” multiplatform SDK to integrate native ads that fit naturally within the game worlds of its titles. The collaboration focused on fine-tuning ad placements and leveraging real-time insights to maximize every impression, all while ensuring the player experience remained seamless and immersive.

Results
This significant revenue gain was achieved without compromising the player experience. According to Gameloft, players “got used to the ads really quickly,” and there were “no complaints”. The studio even “had positive comments” and was able to develop new features around the native ad placements to add realism for players.
The intrinsic ads work “perfectly alongside IAP monetization,” resulting in a higher overall ARPDAU. This success enabled Gameloft “to invest even more in the development of the game for players”.
Ads still have a major role to play in the industry. Diversifying revenue sources with native ads is an easily achievable objective today. Our experience with the Anzu solution on both the business and technical integration sides was smooth and fruitful. No matter the genre, I strongly believe that an immersive ads integration can add meaningful incremental revenue for any game developer.
